Hi,
To more accurately curate the metadata for data collections related to the AVIRIS facility instruments, we'd like to request for a revision to an existing GCMD instrument keyword.
Existing GCMD instrument to be revised:
UUID: 57854209-ce09-4dc9-90e2-5c4e1060fdad
Short name: AVIRIS-NG
Please help to 1) add an alternative label "AVIRIS-Next Generation" and 2) revise the "Description" as detailed below:
Definition: The Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer - Next Generation (AVIRIS-NG or AVIRIS-Next Generation) is the second of the NASA AVIRIS spectrometer Facility Instrument series. The AVIRIS-NG provides high signal-to-noise ratio imaging spectroscopy measurements in 425 contiguous spectral channels with wavelengths in the solar reflected spectral range (380-2510 nm) with 5 nm sampling. The AVIRIS-NG began operation in 2014. The AVIRIS-NG has flown on a variety of aircraft platforms including the Twin Otter, the King Air B-200, and NASA's high-altitude ER-2 aircraft. The AVIRIS-NG has better than 95% cross-track spectral uniformity and >= 95% spectral instantaneous field of view (IFOV) uniformity. Data from AVIRIS-NG have been applied to a wide range of studies in the fields of terrestrial and coastal aquatic plant physiology, atmospheric and aerosol studies, environmental science, snow hydrology, geology, volcanology, oceanography, soil and land management, agriculture, limnology, etc.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information.
Thanks,
Yaxing
